Clomid Testosterone

Regardless what is the reason why you would need increased testosterone levels, Clomid is a medication well known to increase them efficiently. With this being said, there’s a strong connection between Clomid and testosterone and that’s what we are going to talk about today.

Clomid (with active substance Clomiphene Citrate) is a popular oral medication approved by US FDA as a fertility medication among women who are not able to become pregnant.

That’s because Clomid has been found great at affecting the hormonal balance within the body of the user and that’s helpful for a woman in promoting ovulation and therefore, increasing chances of getting pregnant.

But Clomid for men is also affecting hormonal balance and is helpful because is promoting testosterone increase, therefore is considered helpful for men too, for boosting sperm count, for treating infertility in men (sometimes prescribed off label for such needs) as an alternative to TRT but is also one of the most popular compound for Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) among steroid users.

Anyone who is using anabolic steroids is suppressing natural testosterone production since the body receives signals that too much of these hormones are produced. This may not be a huge problem during the cycle taken in consideration that you have the “external source” of hormones.

Nonetheless, it becomes a huge problem when you stop the administration of anabolic steroids (cycle ends). You don’t get hormones from steroids nor do you get them naturally from your pituitary gland / testicles.

That’s why there’s such a popular myth that as soon as you end your steroid cycle you feel extremely bad and all your gains are lost. That’s true only as long as you don’t have a PCT plan.

Post Cycle Therapy plan is there to keep your levels of testosterone high (artificially, but produced by your own body) as well as to greatly help with recovery and reduce the time required for this recovery of your body to normally produce Testosterone levels. This can take months or even years, but with PCT – this time is greatly reduced.

What does Clomid have to do with all of this?

As mentioned, Clomid is affecting the hormonal balance within the body and is a great testosterone booster. That’s why Clomid (Clomiphene) ended up one of the most popular and effective compounds out there for PCT plans.

What’s the Connection Between Clomid and Testosterone?

In order for you to understand what clomid – testosterone have in common, you need to understand how Clomid works.

Clomid is a Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator (SERM) meaning that it selectively binds to different estrogen receptors in your body.

One of the most important bindings of Clomiphene is the strong binding with estrogen receptors at the pituitary gland, therefore Clomid blocks the estrogen to reach the pituitary. When estrogen is interacting with the pituitary gland, there is less Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and less Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) being produced. As a result – you are getting a decreased level of testosterone.

That’s a defense mechanism of not receiving “too much” testosterone. A part of testosterone is converted into estrogen – the more estrogen you have, your body “thinks” that too much testosterone is produced and therefore, the less testosterone is produced.

When you add Clomid PCT after a cycle, it blocks the estrogen at the pituitary gland, this leads to a spike in LH and FSH and this leads to a total increase in Testosterone levels.

That’s why Clomid and Testosterone have such a powerful connection and that’s why this compound is considered so effective for boosting testosterone levels.

In other words, your body is starting to produce testosterone on its own, although it does so artificially, you still benefit from it. Plus to that, you need to use Clomid only for a while to avoid too much drop of testosterone levels and to allow a faster and safer recovery from use of steroids.

Clomid Testosterone Booster

Taking into consideration that Clomid is such a great testosterone booster, some people are wondering why wouldn’t they just use Clomiphene for a cycle to increase levels of testosterone and benefit? The answer is very simple:

Clomiphene is a SERM and is not recommended to use for too much time. Other than that, it is not even going to be effective. Steroids are anabolic and androgenic, SERMs are not. Anabolic steroids and Clomid are working completely differently.

In order to boost testosterone levels for PCT, Clomid is usually run in doses between 100-50 mg a day for the first 2 weeks when PCT is started, and then dosage is reduced in half for the last 2 weeks out of total 4 weeks.

  • Sometimes, if you start at 100 mg a day, you can go for the fifth or even sixth week with 25 mg a day. Most commonly it goes like: week 1-2: 50 mg a day; week 3-4: 25 mg a day. Total 4 weeks. If you start at 100 mg a day (or even higher, but not recommended over 200 mg a day) you can go: week 1: 150 mg a day; week 2: 100 mg a day; week 3-4: 50 mg a day; week 5-6: 25 mg a day. Total 6 weeks.
